The principal objective of the study wass to undertake a comprehensive analysis of the literature on Asian demographic trend over the next thirty years and of the related studies which analyse the geopolitical implications and strategic consequences for Europe of changes in the demographic dynamics in Asia. Such comprehensive and in-depth literature review will help define the need for the Commission to embark on broader studies on the subject matter. The ultimate objective of any ensuing in-depth study would be to develop adequate knowledge and analysis so as to devise the required policy response from Europe
